Set your cancellation policy
Write your refund terms once — a deadline and two percentages — then apply them to any listing.
Your cancellation policy is a promise you make to guests before they pay, and SuiteVenues enforces it exactly as written. You build your own from three simple ingredients.
Build a policy
Open Settings → Cancellation policies and choose New policy:
- Name it — "My standard policy", "Peak season", whatever helps you pick it later.
- Set the deadline — how many days before the event the stricter terms kick in.
- Set two percentages with sliders: what you keep if cancelled before the deadline, and what you keep if cancelled after (100% = no refund after the deadline).
That's the whole policy. "Deadline 7 days · keep 0% before / 100% after" reads as: full refund until a week out, no refund inside the final week.
Apply it to your listings
Each venue and vendor profile has a Cancellation policy section where you pick which of your policies applies. Listings without a pick use the platform default: 7 days, keep 0% before, 100% after. One policy can cover every listing, or each can have its own.
How refunds play out
When a guest cancels a paid booking, the timing against your deadline decides which percentage applies:
- The guest is refunded the remaining share of everything they paid — their service fee included, in the same proportion.
- You keep your share of the payout.
- SuiteVenues returns its platform fee in full on any refunded amount — platform fees apply only to the share you keep.
Note: Stripe's card processing fees from the original payment aren't returned on refunds — that's Stripe's policy, outside SuiteVenues' control.
Choosing your numbers
Stricter policies protect your calendar; friendlier ones convert more bookings. A middle path many hosts like: a 14-day deadline, keep 0% before, 50% after — protection for the dates that are hardest to re-book, flexibility everywhere else. You can edit a policy any time; bookings already paid keep the terms they were booked under.
